I have been fortunate enough to have worked with AJ on two separate projects, a safari jacket and a blazer. I can say with confidence that both turned out excellently. Being fairly new to the world of made-to-measure, I think St. James was the perfect choice. AJ guided me through the extensive process of choosing fit, fabric and style, which from the outside can seem daunting. I think the challenge when commissioning garments, such as the ones I did, is that one might get too carried away with particular details or loud fabrics making the end product difficult to incorporate into one's wardrobe. At every step of the way AJ described to me what the impact of each variable would be on the garment as a whole. This resulted in garments that work within the context of my life, and not just on paper. I can wholeheartedly recommend St. James to anyone considering made-to-measure. The communication, value and advice I received were all outstanding.

I purchased a suit from St. James and I must say that I am incredibly satisfied, both with the end product and the overall process from start to finish. AJ is highly competent and knowledgeable, providing exceptional service and sound advice from the minute you step into his atelier. Delivery was much faster than expected, and fitting rounds have been efficient with proper guidance. I am personally very impressed with the suit I have received, both in terms of craftsmanship and fit, and I am very much looking forward to my next commission from AJ and St. James.

Having read a lot and tried different suit brands from the likes of Suitsupply to Corneliani, , I never really had much experience with Made to Measure. With RTW there are always certain nuances with fit like different shoulder heights, jacket length or just the hassle of tailoring the garments. So when my friend AJ started his business with St James Oslo, I got curious and wanted to learn more. I got the chance to observe the process with another client, before going through with the order myself though. I’d say that AJ has a lot of knowledge about fit, suits and classic style/styling. His MTM program also has a lot of flexibility as to what can be adjusted. I’d therefore put it closer to semi bespoke than regular MTM. If the client has any special requests, I would not hesitate to ask AJ whether it can be done or not.

As for the quality of the item received. I would describe it with descriptions like: high armholes, beautiful and heavy fabric from the house fabric series, spalla camicia shoulder done in a tasteful manner and the feel of a handmade item. The price level is about the same as Corneliani or Canali, when done in a more expensive fabric than their standard fabrics, but the make I would say is higher. I’m not a tailor and have not taken the garments apart in order to see inside and so on, but the garments has a certain heft, which can be explained when looking at the head tailor’s background with Brioni. Also the finishing is super clean. I would certainly recommend St James Oslo with confidence to anyone looking for something more than regular MTM, without paying the full price of bespoke. I also don’t think the multiple fittings of bespoke is for everyone.

To take my own business into another level, I wanted to invest in a new suit that matched many criteria of quality and make, that'd be hard to ask for from a normal MTM menswear retail experience. Challenging St. James Oslo on these terms, I quickly learnt I've asked the right professional. AJ has an innate ability to understand and guide his client through the sartorial process, ultimately making the product something that feels just your own. The quality of workmanship is like none other, and I couldn't be happier about my suit.
